For my dissertation I chose the topic “The future of Live music events and festivals”. After intense research, my main insight was from watching a pre-recorded virtual music performance myself, Dua Lipa’s Studio 2054. From this I realised that it is incredibly exciting to watch, although it completely depends on your surroundings for example, who you are with, what screen you watch it on, and the quality of the sound. Another key insight after talking to Events expert Hollie Bellis, was the fact that live music events are generally bad for the environment. In particular with stages that have diesel generators, and miles upon miles of wires.
With this in mind, I ultimately created a brand called “ORB-ular” which is a unique live music event service. It offers six domes in collaboration with “Architect’s of Air” with their intelligent illuminarium design. The consumer can hire the space with up to twelve of their friends, as the service tours National Trust spaces across the UK, bringing in a younger consumer. The vibrant and exhibition-like service also offers a recycling element to ease the environmentally aware consumer, especially in a post-pandemic World. By discouraging bringing plastic, and encouraging glass bottles and tin cans which can be recycled upon entry.
The following visuals are mock-ups of my final outcome, which I created in collaboration with an architecture student. To find out more about my Dissertation, please click the link below.
